Fleas and ticks are a common pet health problem for dogs and cats. Both carry a host of diseases that can be quite dangerous to your pet if they are not treated in the early stages. These creatures can also make themselves at home in your house and yard, making it a challenge to get rid of them once and for all.
Check for fleas and ticks on your cat:
-Separate small parts of his or her hair at a time and look between them. If you don’t see fleas and ticks, look for dark brown spots that the fleas leave behind.
Treat your home
-If you find fleas and ticks on your pets - you can bet they are in your house.
Wash everything.
How to treat fleas and ticks on your cat
-Once you have determined that your cat has fleas, wash your cat with flea and tick shampoo. This often means you will have to wash your cat in a bathtub with plenty of water and soap. Cats generally don’t like water…this won’t be easy.
You can also try a dry flea and tick shampoo.
-Use a flea and tick control product. Used properly, it will kill fleas and ticks on your cat and will make sure they do not return.
